A giant Aoyu lantern — a mythical creature with a dragon's head and fish's body — soars into the night sky above Tangmo ancient village in Huizhou district, Huangshan, wishing all who witness it smooth journeys and a bright future.
This evening spectacle is staged in Tangmo, a 1,000-year-old village in Qikou town, Huizhou district, Huangshan. Rooted in the Southern Song dynasty (1127-1279) fish lantern tradition, the “Aoyu Soars” show is a creative extension of intangible cultural heritage.
The performances run nightly at 19:18, and will begin at 18:18 from Sept 23, for about an hour, except on Mondays.
