The 2026 World Ocean Week in Xiamen will be held from Nov 5 to 11 under the theme "join hands to protect the deep blue: harmony between people and the sea". The event will feature an opening ceremony, cultural exchange activities, discussions on marine science and ecology, and marine economy matchmaking activities.
Beijing recently held a meeting to advance preparations for the 2026 World Ocean Week in Xiamen, where participants discussed the overall plan and the preparatory work of relevant member units, stressing the need to showcase China's achievements in global ocean governance and boost the platform's influence.
World Ocean Week in Xiamen has been held for 20 consecutive years, drawing officials and experts from more than 130 countries and regions and over 50 major international organizations, with total participants exceeding 2 million. It has developed into a significant platform for Xiamen and China to engage in international cooperation within the maritime sector.
China has extended its 240-hour visa-free transit policy and Hainan's 30-day visa-free entry policy to citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam, the National Immigration Administration said on Aug 20.
