Introduction to Hiroshima University

Established in 1949, Hiroshima University is a first-class national university headquartered in the city of Higashihiroshima in Japan.

The university is home to one of 16 all-discipline graduate schools in Japan. In 2014, it was selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology in Japan as a top university in the Top Global University Japan Program.

Hiroshima University is home to 11 major departments, including literature, science, engineering, law, economics, education, and medicine.

Overview of the program

Shanxi University and Hiroshima University signed an agreement for a "3+1" cooperation exchange program: After Shanxi University students complete two or three years of courses in Shanxi, they can go to Hiroshima University to study and obtain credits from Hiroshima University.

Main features of the program

1. Language of instruction: English/Japanese

2. Exchange period: three or four semesters

3. Proposed number of exchange students: unlimited

4. Courses include: professional courses; peace studies, and language courses (Japanese or English)

Application requirements, language, and tuition

1. Application requirements

(1) Language: Japanese N1 level; English language proficiency with IELTS score of at least 5.0; internet-based test score and paper-based test score of TOEFL of at least 61 and 500, respectively; pass the test of China's College English Test Band 6.

(2) No record of bad behavior at school.

(3) Applicants must be juniors or seniors registered at Shanxi University.

2. Tuition

Seniors: 399,600 yen (three semesters)

Junior students: 532,800 yen (four semesters) 

3. Accommodation and living expenses: 8,000-100,000 yen per month 

4. Application deadline: read the notice from the International Cooperation and Exchange Division at Shanxi University.
