Three professors from Shanxi University (SXU) were included on the list of 2019 Chinese Most Cited Researchers released on May 7 by Elsevier, a Netherlands-based global information analytics business.

The three professors are Liang Jiye, Jin Zhen and Qian Yuhua who are engaged in computer science and mathematics.

The ranking was based on the Scopus database of Elsevier, the world's largest literature abstract and citation database.

It contains more than 24,000 journals and 9.8 million academic conference papers published by more than 5,000 publishers around the world, covering natural sciences, technology, engineering, medicine, social sciences, arts and the humanities.

Being included on the Elsevier’s list of Chinese Most Cited Researchers means that the total number of citations of a scholar as the first author and corresponding author of the paper is at the top level among all researchers in a certain field in the country.

It also indicates that the academic has made outstanding contributions to the development of a certain academic field and has high world influence.

This year's list selected 2,163 academics from 242 universities or research institutions and engaged in 38 academic fields.

Shanxi University ranked 92nd among Chinese universities for the number of included scholars.
