Four teachers from Shanxi University, or SXU -- were recently included in the seventh list of Shanxi provincial academic and technical leaders, according to the Shanxi Department of Resource and Social Security.

Officials said the academic and technological leaders, who form the backbone of the province's high-level talent team, play an important role in the innovation-driven development of Shanxi.

The selected candidates will receive certificates, enjoy the recognition of their peers and receive a one-time special allowance of 20,000 yuan ($2,858).

The four recognized teachers from SXU are Gao Shan at the Institute of Science and Technology Philosophy, Guo Yanxia at the Institute of Resources and Environment Engineering, Yan Zhihui at the Institute of Optoelectronics and Yuan Meilin at the Law School.

SXU officials said their university encourages academic and technological leaders to apply for and undertake major national and provincial scientific research project.

It also encourages them to be involved in social and public affairs and fully participate in advisory roles in policy formulation, economic and social development decision-making and major project approvals.

The officials added that university also supports them in strengthening cooperation with top universities and scientific research institutes at home and abroad -- to make new contributions to academic and technological innovation.
