On the invitation of Shanxi University, Du Yubo, chairman of the China Association of Higher Education, made an academic visit to SXU on Dec 18.

During his visit, Du gave a report entitled The Mission of Higher Education in the New Era.

Du explained the mission of modern universities and colleges in the new era from the five perspectives of "grasping the development trend of higher education", "promoting the construction of first-class universities and first-class disciplines", "serving national strategies and regional economic and social development", "improving the quality of personnel training" -- and "strengthening the building of leadership and Party building".

Du also pointed out that Shanxi University should establish a clear idea about school administration, accurate positioning of personnel training and develop distinctive characteristics in the creation of its academic disciplines.
