Shanxi University was recently granted the honorable title of excellent organizational unit for the activity “I am a Chinese graduate student and I love the motherland,” according to SXU officials.

The activity was initiated by the journal Chinese Graduate Student and the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center in June, 2019.

Officials said it aims to promote the great national spirit centered on patriotism among graduate students, as well as to mark the 70th anniversary of founding of the People’s Republic of China.

During the summer holidays, the Graduate Affairs Department of Shanxi University organized its graduates to conduct a six-week research practice in Linfen Ancient Town in Shanxi province.

They completed six work briefs, 25 work notes and 25 work diaries, wrote more than 200,000 words of research reports. They also paid 37 documentary visits to local residents and took more than 400 photos.

SXU officials said their work reveals the great changes to the once poverty-stricken Linfen Ancient Town, over a 70-year period.
