Library management professor gives lecture at SXU

On the invitation of the library of Shanxi University, professor Lai Maosheng from Peking University conducted an academic visit to Shanxi University on Dec 6, according to SXU officials.

Professor Lai has deep academic accomplishments in the field of library and information. After retirement, he continues to serve as the director of the Academic Committee of Peking University Informatization and Information Management Research Center and is the director of the Academic Committee of Peking University User Information Behavior Research Center.

At the Jintu Forum held the same day, Lai presented an academic report entitled Libraries in the Digital Age.

It was attended by more than 130 teachers, students and scholars in the field of library management from over 20 universities in Shanxi province.

In his report to the Jintu Forum, Lai explained that the emergence of the new generation of information technology was having a profound impact on social and economic development. This was especially so for big data, intelligent technologies and 5G technologies that have been very popular in recent years, which have pushed China’s information society into a new phase.

Lai also explained the mission, resources advantage of library and outlined the professional advantages of the library industry.
