The Shanxi Daily published an article "Promoting the Modernization of University Governance System and Governance Capability" by Fu Huiming, Party secretary of Shanxi University, on Dec 2, according to local officials.

The article pointed out that promoting the modernization of the university governance system and governance capabilities is the core task for universities -- to implement the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, which was held in Beijing on Oct 28-31.

He said that in order to optimize the internal institutional system of universities, they must focus on “improving the system of the party’s leadership in the overall work of the university”.

Other areas of focus were “innovating the talent training system”, “establishing a scientific and technological cultural innovation system”, “optimizing a system that serves social and economic development” -- and “improving the system of running schools according to law and administering schools democratically ".

The article provides specific guidance for Shanxi University on improving university governance, according to SXU officials.
