International quantum science, tech seminar held at SXU

A 24-day national-level academic seminar on quantum science and technology organized by the Institute of Laser Spectroscopy at Shanxi University recently concluded at the university, with presentation of 32 academic reports and more than 50 group discussions.

The seminar was attended by 35 prominent domestic and international experts and academics.

Among them were professors Augusto Smerzi and Paolo de Natale from the Italian National Institute of Optics, Professor Andrea Trombettoni from the talian National Institute of Materials, Professor Francesco Saverio Cataliotti from the European Nonlinear Spectroscopy Laboratory, as well as professors Gu Ying and He Qiongyi from Peking University and professors Zhang Junxiang and Zheng Delong from Zhejiang University.

Also attending the opening ceremony – and delivering speeches -- were Shi Tongzhao, director of the Shanxi Department of Foreign Experts Affairs; Zhang Taincai, vice president of Shanxi University; Jia Suotang, director of the Extreme Optics Collaborative Innovation Center and Xiao Liantuan, director of the Laser Spectroscopy Institute of Shanxi University.

Attendees spoke highly of the development of Shanxi University’s physics disciplines in recent years, especially in the field of quantum science and technology. They also agreed to programs to jointly train postgraduates with SXU.

Officials said the seminar provided a platform for SXU to strengthen its cooperation with foreign experts and improve the influence of SXU on research into quantum science and technology.
