Malaysian university delegates visit SXU

A delegation led by Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, president and founder of the Management & Science University in Malaysia, paid a visit to Shanxi University on Nov 1, according to SXU officials.

SXU officials said senior staff from the International Cooperation and Exchanges Department, the Graduate School, Biomedicine Research Institute, School of Music and the School of Sports met with the delegation.

Party secretary Fu Huiming on behalf of SXU conveyed a warm welcome to the delegates and expressed his hopes to strengthen mutual exchanges and cooperation in the future.

Yin Jie, vice principal of Shanxi University, gave a brief introduction on the history, discipline set-up and international school operations development of SXU.

Yin and the delegates also discussed joint work on a number of areas, with the aim of boosting further educational and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Malaysia.

The areas under focus included undergraduate and postgraduate programs, academic exchanges, discipline construction, student cultivation and innovation on scientific research.

The two sides also discussed establishing official cooperation, signing strategic cooperation agreements and launching policies with mutual benefits.

Background Information

The Management & Science University at Malaysia, or MSU, is the top private comprehensive university approved and certified by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education and MQA. MSU has been awarded a five-star award for five consecutive years. The Malaysian Ministry of Education has a five-star rating system and only eight universities in Malaysia have been awarded five-star awards.

MSU reportedly has excellent teaching and teacher resources, with the proportion of full-time teachers with doctoral degrees at 70 percent, and the university students come from more than 40 countries and regions around the world.

MSU has 10 branch campuses in Malaysia and five branch campuses in India, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. It has a complete training system for undergraduate, postgraduates and doctoral students. A total of 11 schools have been established. These include the School of Life and Health Sciences, International Medical College, Pharmacy College, School of Business Administration and Professional Studies, School of Hotel and Creative Arts, School of Information Science and Engineering, School of Education and Social Sciences and Zhongjing College.
