The International Forum on Image Reconstruction was held at Shanxi University (SXU) in Taiyuan, North China’s Shanxi province, on Aug 28.

Around 80 scholars and experts on medical imaging attended the forum, and a number of them delivered reports on algorithm research, system development, and research on medical applications for imaging modalities such as CT (computed tomography), MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), PET (positron emission tomography), and EPRI (electron paramagnetic resonance imaging).

Among the attendees were three professors from the University of Chicago and five experts from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Capital Normal University, Southern Medical University, and Xi’an University of Posts and Telecommunications.

The forum was co-chaired by professors Howard Halpern and Xiaochuan Pan from the University of Chicago, and Liang Jiye, vice president of Shanxi University.

The EPRI (electron paramagnetic resonance imaging) laboratory jointly-established by Shanxi University and the University of Chicago unveiled its nameplate at the same day, which will focus on research on core reconstruction algorithms and EPRI oxygen imaging applications in cancer therapy, unveiled its nameplate during the event.
