A delegation led by Liu Xiucai, chairman of Cathay Industrial Biotech Co Ltd, paid a visit to Shanxi University, on Aug 22, on an important industrial mission, according to university officials.

The delegation aimed to conduct on-the-spot investigations for the development of a bio-based new materials industry in Shanxi province and the construction of the proposed Cathay (Shanxi) Bio-based New Material Industrial Park.

Fu Huiming, Party secretary of Shanxi University, extended a warm welcome to the delegates and made a presentation on the achievements the province has made in improving its investment environment and initiatives taken on its investment restructuring and economic transformation.

Fu also expressed his hopes that more enterprises could start businesses in Shanxi.

Cheng Fangqin, vice president of Shanxi University, delivered a speech on the relevant achievements made by the university in scientific research and its services to local government and companies.

The delegates also visited a food processing and analysis laboratory, bioengineering laboratory, and a protein chemistry and engineering laboratory at the university.
