Professor Xiao Liantuan from Shanxi University was elected as a fellow of the Chinese Optical Society (COS), according to the 2019 Chinese Optical Society Academic Conference held at the University of Science and Technology of China on Aug 10.

COS established the fellowship system in 2015 to recognize members who have made outstanding contributions to the development of optical and optical engineering and the work of the institute.

Over the past 40 years, COS has established close relationships with many major international organizations.

In 1987, COS became a member of the International Commission for Optics (ICO). It also established long-term cooperation with the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), The Optical Society (OSA), the European Optical Society (EOC), the Optical Society of Japan (OSJ), and the Optical Society of Korea (OSK).
