Symposium on modern Chinese social history held in Taiyuan

The 8th International Symposium on Modern Chinese Social History was held in Taiyuan, capital city of North China’s Shanxi province, from July 26 to 29.

During the four-day event, more than 150 academics and experts from China, the US, Japan and South Korea were invited to deliver speeches and discuss topics on the survival strategy, social education, social movement and social changes in the modern social transformation period.

The event was sponsored by the Society of the Social History of Modern China, the Institute of Modern History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Shanxi University.

Hao Ping, dean of the Department of History and Culture at Shanxi University, hosted the opening ceremony of the event on July 26.
