SXU leaders visit low-income residents

Updated: 2017-12-19

Faculty members from Shanxi University visited low-income residents in two impoverished villages, led by the School Party Secretary Shi Shuai, Vice-Secretary Ding Yaowu and Vice-President Han Yonghong, on Dec 12.

In the company of local officials, the group visited low-income residents in Qinglu and Xilishang villages in Jingle county, Xinzhou city, Shanxi province, with the aim of investigating the changes taking place following the start of a targeted poverty-relief program.

The leaders listened to local residents’ suggestions on poverty alleviation, offered subsidies and gifts to people in need, and encouraged local people to develop poverty-relief projects.

Since the idea of targeted poverty alleviation was proposed by President Xi Jinping in 2013, organizations and institutions have been encouraged to offer targeted support to deprived areas and residents. Shanxi University is responsible for Jingle county in Xinzhou.
