National research project starts at SXU

Shanxi University held a meeting marking the start of a national research project on recycling coal ash on Nov 14.

The project was undertaken by Shanxi University, with the support of 13 organizations including East China University of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and several companies. Cheng Fangqin, vice-president of Shanxi University, was the leader of the project.

Attendees at the meeting included Shanxi University President Jia Suotang, officials from the local technology department, representatives from the project and some experts in the field.

Professors from various universities and institutions from the panel came to listen and examine the report delivered by the research team.

The project leader Cheng Fangqin delivered a report on the research contents, objective, plan and current progress of the project. The panel members made positive comments regarding Cheng’s report and recognized the feasibility of the research plan.

It is of great significance in the context of the amount of coal ash present in Northwestern China.
