Three teachers from the School of International Education and Exchange of Shanxi University, along with an official from the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Shanxi Provincial People’s Government, visited the Philippines from Oct 16 to 31.

During the visit, the three teachers delivered a lecture on Chinese language and culture at the annual meeting of Visayan Chinese Language Teaching Association and held a discussion with over 200 participants.

The three teachers also took part in an activity held by the Mindanao Chinese Language Teaching Association to offer training to students who were preparing to take an exam to gain their Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.

More than 60 teachers from various Chinese-language teaching schools in Mindanao took part in the training.

The Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages is designed by the national office of overseas Chinese affairs, in a bid to improve the teaching skills of overseas Chinese teachers.
