SXU leaders visit villages to support poverty relief efforts

Some 29 faculty members from Shanxi University, led by the president, Jia Suotang, and vice-president, Han Yonghong visited two poor villages named Qinglu and Xilishang located in Jingle county, Xinzhou city in Shanxi province, to support local poverty relief efforts, on Nov 1.

The faculty members were separated into two groups, one led by Jia and the other by Han.

The two groups visited local families to investigate their incomes, housing conditions and specific needs.

Han held a discussion with local officials at a meeting in Xilishang village. During the meeting, the vice-president listened to a report delivered by Wang Zhimin, leader of the poverty relief team at Shanxi University, about the achievements they had made in the village.

The vice-president also visited the grain processing plant supported by Shanxi University with local officials, and held a discussion on the development of the plant, as well as ways to improve the incomes of local farmers.
