SXU's foreign students shine in Chinese proficiency contest

Four foreign students from the School of International Education and Exchange at Shanxi University (SXU) shined at the Chinese Bridge•2017 Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreigners Across the Globe, which concluded on Aug 4.

The one-month event organized by Confucius Institute Headquarters and China Central Television set group competitions, individual competitions and online Chinese accomplishments contest for all foreign Chinese enthusiasts to showcase their Chinese skills.

Ivanova Anastasiia from Ukraine won the second prize out of 108 entries from 55 countries in the third round of the individual competition. She and two other students from Armenia, Ani Harutyunyan and Harutyunyan Arman, formed a group on behalf of Shanxi University and ranked 15th in the domestic college team. Choe Jihyeon from South Korea ranked seventh out of 2,000 participants in the preliminary of the individual competition.

The School of International Education and Exchange at Shanxi University hopes that foreign students can further their understanding of Chinese culture through the competitions and through learning during the process of the event.
