Dongshan campus, a new campus of Shanxi University, held a ground-breaking ceremony on June 30.

The new campus in the Xiaodian district of Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi province, will cover a planned area of 96 hectares. The first period of construction is expected to cost 200 million yuan ($28.96 million).

The Dongshan campus will further expand the scale of Shanxi University, improve the facilities and environment for education and professional training, and power the development of the university, said Zhang Fuming, vice-governor of Shanxi province, at the ceremony.
