Exhibition to observe SXU's 115th anniversary

To celebrate Shanxi University's (SXU) 115th anniversary, it has invited artworks from 10 Z14 universities from Midwest China, to showcase their talents in a week-long exhibition from May 8.

More than 100 works of calligraphy and painting from schools such as Hebei University, Inner Mongolia University and Guizhou University, have been put on display at SXU's Academy of Fine Arts.

Z14 is an alliance of 14 universities in Midwest China established in 2013, designed to provide a platform to develop artistic disciplines, according to Han Yonghong, vice-president of SXU. He hoped that members of Z14 continue to advance the mutual beneficial partnerships.

Liu Zongchao, dean of College of Art at Hebei University, congratulated SXU on its 115th birthday and put forward suggestions and expectations on the development of members of Z14.

SXU is planning various academic activities, including lectures and forums, to celebrate its 115th anniversary coinciding with the rebuilding of the university's history museum as well as the release of a revised edition of a book detailing SXU’s history.
