Shanxi University (SXU) will team up with Shanxi Coal Geology 148 Prospecting Institute (148 Prospecting Institute) for geological projects, according to an agreement signed between the two parties at a business matchmaking event held on April 26.

The meeting focused on establishing a long-term partnership between the two sides in fields like prevention and management of geological disasters, urban planning and environmental protection, according to Liu Lili, an official from the 148 Prospecting Institute.

Cheng Fangqin, vice-president of SXU, and Ma Yunli, director of 148 Prospecting Institute, expressed a willingness to share resources and partner on geological projects.

The two sides discussed issues of land restoration, environmental protection in mining areas, coalbed methane and groundwater, as well as negotiating the training of professionals in geology and collaboration on geological projects.

Experts attending the meeting, such as Li Hua from the College of Environmental and Resource Sciences at SXU and Wu Longhua from the Institute of Soil Science under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered reports on their research.
