Taiyuan holds national symposium on mathematical philosophy

The 2017 national symposium on mathematical philosophy began in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi province, on April 15.

The two-day event attracted more than 50 scholars and experts from domestic and foreign universities and institutes, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Shanxi University (SXU), and the National University of Singapore.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Yin Jie of SXU's Research Center for Philosophy of Science and Technology introduced the assembled to the history of Shanxi province and the development of SXU and the research center.

The symposium consisted of five conferences and 17 themed lectures, including those focused on the foundations of mathematics, naturalism and realism, the history of mathematics, and mathematical logic.
