An article on promoting high-quality and sufficient employment by General Secretary Xi Jinping was published in Issue No. 21, 2024, Qiushi Journal.

According to the article, employment is the most basic component of the people’s wellbeing. It concerns the vital interests of the people, the healthy economic and social development, as well as the security and stability of the country.

Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, we have steadily deepened our understanding of the laws governing employment in the new era and accumulated a wealth of experience. These include upholding the Party’s overall leadership over employment work; ensuring employment serves as the foundation of people’s wellbeing; implementing an employment-first strategy; promoting employment through development; expanding employment capacity while improving employment quality; promoting employment among key groups; stimulating job creation by encouraging business startups; fostering a fair employment environment; building harmonious labor relations. We must adhere to these practices over the long term and continuously enrich and develop them.

According to the article, it is our new mission and task to promote high-quality and full employment in the new era on the new journey. To achieve this, we should continue to take the employment-first strategy, tackle structural unemployment, and improve support policies among key groups. We should also further reform in systems and mechanisms for employment, and safeguard workers’ rights and interests. The article also urges Party committees and governments at all levels to give top priority to employment-related work by strengthening organization and leadership and improving systems and mechanisms, so as to forge strong synergy in their work.
