Qiushi Journal Issue Preview: No. 15, 2024
An article by General Secretary Xi Jinping on modernizing armed forces and national defense as well as developing a world-class military at a faster pace was published in this year’s 15th issue of Qiushi Journal.
Fulfilling the goals for the centenary of the People’s Liberation Army in 2027 and developing a world-class military at a faster pace are strategic tasks for building a modern socialist country in all respects, the article says. To achieve this, we should strengthen Party building across the board in the people’s armed forces to ensure that they always obey the Party’s command. We will intensify troop training and enhance combat preparedness to see that our people’s armed forces can fight and win. We will strengthen all-around military governance. We will build on and expand the gains of national defense and military reform, improve the structure and composition of the armed forces, and refine the framework of military policies and institutions. We will also consolidate and enhance integrated national strategies and strategic capabilities.
The PLA is a heroic force that always enjoys the full trust of the Party and the people, says the article, adding that the PLA has the confidence and capability to safeguard China’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, to provide strategic support for the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and to make yet greater contributions to world peace and development.
