Qiushi Journal Issue Preview: No.12, 2024

An article by General Secretary Xi Jinping on opening new frontiers for high-quality development of our country was published in this year's 12th issue of Qiushi Journal.

Noting that China's economy has been transitioning from a phase of rapid growth to a stage of high-quality development, the article stresses that high-quality development is the theme of the country's economic and social development in the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025) and beyond, and the first and foremost task in building a modern socialist country in all respects. We should adhere to promoting high-quality development in advancing toward the goal of national rejuvenation along the path to a stronger China.

High-quality development can meet people's ever-growing desire for a better life, and it reflects new development philosophy, according to the article. It is primarily innovation-driven, characterized by coordination, and environmentally friendly. It also mandates openness and seeks shared benefits as a fundamental goal.

To promote high-quality development, it is our inevitable choice to achieve a higher level of self-reliance and strength in S&T, a key strategic objective to foster a new development dynamic as well as an inherent requirement and a pivot to develop new quality productive forces.

With a commitment to high-quality development as the paramount principle, we must fully and faithfully apply the new development philosophy, and accelerate the growth of new quality productive forces according to local conditions, thus laying a solid foundation for promoting high-quality development, says the article.

We must make plans for further deepening reform on all fronts with a view to injecting strong momentum into high-quality development and Chinese modernization.
