The Way Forward in the New Era
The Way Forward in the New Era*
March 5, 2022
As we look back on the journey the Party and the people have traveled since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, we are all the more convinced of the following:
First, upholding overall Party leadership is the only way to advance socialism with Chinese characteristics. As long as we uphold overall leadership by the Party and the authority of the Party Central Committee and its centralized, unified leadership, we will be able to ensure stronger political cohesion and greater confidence in the Party and across the nation. We will be able to gather strength to keep to the correct political direction, work together to overcome difficulties, and remain the most reliable core of the nation when problems arise.
Second, socialism with Chinese characteristics is the only path to national rejuvenation. As long as we remain committed to this path, we will be able to meet our people’s aspirations for a better life and achieve common prosperity for all.
Third, solidarity is the only route for the Chinese people to achieve historic successes. We will surely overcome all challenges on our way forward and create new successes that will attract international acclaim, as long as we the Chinese people unite as one under the leadership of the Party, and have the courage and capacity to confront difficulties.
Fourth, implementing the new development philosophy is the only way for China to grow stronger in the new era. As long as we fully, accurately and faithfully apply the new development philosophy, create a new development dynamic, promote high-quality development, and strengthen our self-reliance in science and technology, we will grow more competitive, achieve sustainable development, and keep hold of the initiative in an environment of fierce and increasing international competition.
Fifth, full and rigorous self-governance is the only way for the Party to maintain its vitality and realize the Second Centenary Goal. China’s success hinges on our Party, so we must ensure that the Party practices strict self-governance in every respect. As long as we continue to carry forward the great founding spirit of the Party, have the courage to reform ourselves, remove all harmful elements that might damage the Party’s progressive and wholesome nature, and treat all viruses that erode its health, we will be able to ensure that the Party does not change or betray its nature.
