China Central Television's CCTV-4 recently featured cultural heritage practitioners in Liangxi, a district in Wuxi, Jiangsu province.

Bao Wenji and Zhou Lu, practitioners of Wuxi fine embroidery and Huishan clay figurine making, respectively, have brought ancient craftsmanship to new heights in the modern era, injecting fresh vitality into these traditional arts.

Liangxi is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. The district is home to an impressive 47 recognized intangible cultural heritage items, including five at the national level and 13 at the provincial level.

In recent years, the district's culture, sports, and tourism bureau has taken measures to promote the innovative development of its outstanding traditional culture.

It has formulated a three-year action plan (2023-2025) to better protect local intangible cultural heritage. The bureau has also organized a variety of activities, such as the 2023 Ah Bing International Ethnic Concert, a time-honored food festival, and regular intangible cultural heritage-themed events during China's Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, which falls on the second Saturday of June.
