Donglin Academy in Wuxi hosted a series of events on May 19 in celebration of the 12th China Tourism Day.

With the theme "Feeling Chinese culture and enjoying a beautiful journey", nine performances including an acappella show, a dance drama, Wuxi Opera, pingtan (ballad singing in local dialect) and a musical were staged at difference areas of the Donglin Academy.

Visitors also voted for their favorite works as part of the 2022 Seasonal Review of Good Works by Wuxi's municipal art troupes.

During the event, several travel routes for various groups to tour Wuxi as couples, families and younger generations were released. People were encouraged to visit and tick off the city's tourist attractions and cultural sites and share their travel logs on social media platforms to win special gifts.

A total of 34 tourist attractions in Wuxi will also be providing special discounts for citizens from May 19 to 25.

A special 50-percent discount was offered on tickets to various popular local tourist attractions, including four 5A-level tourist attractions - Yuantouzhu scenic area, Huishan Ancient Town, Wuxi TV Production Base, and Lingshan Mountain scenic area, as well as Nianhuawan scenic area, Wuxi Plum Garden, Liyuan Garden, Wuxi Zoo, Wuxi Studios, Ehu Rose Garden and Chinese Stone Garden.

People can also visit Yixing Sea of Bamboo Park, Yixing Shanjuan Cave scenic area, the Former Residence of Xu Xiake, and Helyu Relics Museum for free.
