Wuxi National Museum of Commerce and Industry, the first such museum in China, was listed as a provincial cultural relic-protection unit in October 2002. It is located at the northern end of Zhenxin Road and surrounded by the Grand Canal on the eastern, western and northern side. The museum covers 12,123 square meters, with an exhibition area of more than 7,300 sq m. Its design is based on the old building of Wuxi Maoxin Flour Mill, which is well preserved and open free to the public.
