New chronic disease control center opens in Nanping
The Zhuhai Center for Chronic Disease Control's Nanping Campus was officially put into operation Jan 6. Plaques were also unveiled for the Zhuhai Third People's Hospital, Mental Health Center, and Nucleic Acid Testing Center within the facility.
Being Zhuhai's first specialized hospital on psychosomatic disorders, the facility is built to Grade-III Class-A standards and will boost the high-quality development of the city's public healthcare services. It will provide up to 800 beds for inpatients with psychosomatic disorders, and chronic and occupational diseases, while offering forensic appraisal of mental diseases.

The new campus will focus on psychosomatic disorders and facilitate discipline construction in sectors spanning adolescent mental health, substance dependence, affective disorders, and sleep conditioning, according to director Ye Haosen. It will also team up with the Zijing and Xincun Outpatient departments in Xiangzhou for coordinated development.
In addition, Zhuhai Nucleic Acid Testing Center is capable of completing testing of 60,000 samples daily, greatly enhancing the city's COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control capacity.
Costing 1 billion yuan ($157 million), the Nanping campus was listed among the city's Top 10 Livelihood Projects for 2021. It covers 43,000 sqm (10.6 acres) at 166 Hezheng Road in Guangsheng Village of Nanping Town, Xiangzhou District with floorage of 88,300 sqm (22 acres) and more than 1,000 parking spaces.
Xu Chaolong, director of the Zhuhai Health Bureau, noted that the complex will remarkably improve the medical environment and bring better experiences to patients.
