Five Zhuhai firms rated China's top 500 by market value
Gree Electric Appliances, Ninestar Corp, Byhealth, JaFron Biomedical, and Zhuhai CosMX Battery (Doumen) have cracked the 2021 List of China's Top 500 Listed Companies by Market Value, which was released Jan 1 with the closure of the domestic stock market in 2021.
Hengqin-headquartered Gree Electric Appliances ranked 79th with a market value of 219 billion yuan ($34 million). Nanping-based Ninestar Corp, one of the largest printing supply producers in the world, is rated 308th with a value of 67.4 billion yuan ($10.6 billion).

Dietary supplements producer Byhealth in Jinwan District placed 448th with a market value of 45.8 billion yuan ($7.2 billion) and JaFron Biomedical in the National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan) ranked 481st with a value of 42.9 billion yuan ($6.7 billion).
Of note, newcomer CosMX Battery is rated 380th with its market value of 54.6 billion yuan ($8.6 billion). Listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in October 2021, Doumen-based CosMX is the first Zhuhai company to go public on the science and technology innovation board, also known as the STAR Market.
Founded in 2007, CosMX is one of the world's largest lithium-ion battery manufacturers with the fastest profit margin growth. It reportedly was 2nd worldwide in the sales of lithium-ion batteries for laptops and tablet computers and 4th in smart cellphones in 2019.
The company's facilities in Xinqing Science & Technology Industrial Park are being expanded with a 120,000-sqm (30-acre) soft-pack polymer intelligent manufacturing plant. Costing 2.3 billion yuan ($360 million), the project consists of a polymer lithium-ion battery production base, an upgraded R&D center, and an automatic packaging production line. The first phase is expected to commence operation in April.
