Shenzhen-Zhuhai industrial cooperation is to be strengthened by a liaison office that was established in Shenzhen on Oct 8 by the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan).

The Hi-Tech Zone Bureau of Commerce will dispatch seven officials to the office where they are to attract high-quality projects and talents. The office is also open to business-attraction staff from local major industrial parks. In addition, the facility will offer free incubation space and services to key projects that would settle in Zhuhai. The leased office is located at the Kexing Science Park in Shenzhen's Nanshan District.

The office staff will accelerate construction of the Shenzhen-Zhuhai Cooperation Demonstration Zone in the Houhuan area near Qi'ao Island. They will also integrate development of the east and west banks on the Pearl River, according to Chen Jianhai, deputy director of the Hi-Tech Zone Administrative Committee.

A major engine of Zhuhai's innovation-driven development, the Hi-Tech Zone has an innovation and entrepreneurship environment similar to that of Shenzhen. It has been attracting targeted businesses from Shenzhen based on the pillar industries of software and integrated circuits, biomedicine and medical equipment, and intelligent manufacture and robotics.

Already more than 43 Shenzhen projects have settled in Tangjiawan with investments totaling 12.4 billion yuan ($1.92 billion).

A public bidding was posted Sept 10 inviting urban designs for the Shenzhen-Zhuhai Cooperation Demonstration Zone, which will be developed as a central intelligence district connecting the innovation resources and industries of Zhuhai and Shenzhen.
