Zhuhai credited with 342 days of great air for last year
Air quality in Zhuhai is 11th in a field of 168 key domestic cities monitored in 2020, the Ministry of Ecology & Environment announced Jan 15. Recorded are 342 days with excellent or fine air -- 25 more than in 2019.
Zhuhai is also among the top cities in air improvement during the year. Compliance with the Air Quality Index is 93.4 percent, a year-on-year increase of 6.8 points. Meanwhile, all indicators of six pollutants meet national standards. The annual average concentration of SO2 continues to be the lowest in Guangdong Province, while those of PM2.5, PM10, NO2, CO, and O3 are also significantly lower.

Concentrations of PM2.5, PM10, and NO2 were 19, 34, and 24 mcg per cubic meter respectively, the lowest in Zhuhai history and among the best ratings in the Pearl River Delta. The O3 concentration is down 15 percent from the previous year.
Zhuhai remained first among the 168 cities from May to July, the first three-peat since initiating a Blue Sky initiative in 2018.
The top 10 cities in breathability in 2020 are Haikou, Lhasa, Zhoushan, Xiamen, Huangshan, Shenzhen, Lishui, Fuzhou, Huizhou, and Guiyang.
