The exterior wall of the new Zhuhai Center for Chronic Disease Control (Zhuhai 3rd Renmin Hospital) will be completed in December and the facility, which is being furnished in the interim, should open by July 2021.

The Grade-III Class-A specialized hospital has floorage of 88,000 sq m (22 acres) and covers 43,000 sq m (10.6 acres) of land east of Nanqin Road in Nanping's Guangsheng Village. It is accessible by the Guangzhou-Macao Expressway on its west and Zhuhai Avenue to the north.

The wards, most of which face south, will have ample daylight, good ventilation, and a dominant view of the central garden. In response to a higher morbidity rate, there will be 800 beds for patients with mental, chronic, and occupational diseases.

Chronic disease medical technology and outpatient, inpatient, administrative logistics, and comprehensive psychiatric medical treatment buildings will form a half-closed courtyard. There are mountain scenes to the east over large central green activity areas for patients and medical staff.

In the design are a canteen, café, pharmacy, convenience store, library, parking lot for more than 1,000 vehicles, and open floors for recreational and rehabilitation facilities.

The facility will service Zhuhai's prevention, control, and epidemic surveillance of chronic infectious diseases, as well as prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of chronic non-infectious diseases. It will also become the first public psychiatric hospital in the city dedicated to preventing, treating, and controlling occupational diseases.

Scientific research, training, health education, and technical guidance of chronic diseases are also to be conducted, as is psychological crisis intervention in public affairs emergencies and judicial appraisal of mental diseases.
