A "smart" industrial park empowered by the Internet, Internet of Things, cloud computing, and big data, Gechuang Jicheng came under construction on March 2 at Sanxi Technology & Innovation Town in Qianshan.

Costing 2.5 billion yuan ($358 million), this, the first project at Sanxi, covers 53,600 sq m (13 acres) east of National Highway G105 (Gudu Avenue) and south of the proposed Guyuan Road in old Lixi Village. With floorage 214,500 sq m (53 acres), the park will harbor 150-m (164-yd-tall) R&D buildings, light production workshops, shared maker spaces, a cultural-creative pedestrian street, and associated apartments and business facilities and will rise as of 2022.

Highlighting a green concept, the "ecological valley," which lies against Fenghuang Mt, Sanxi will recycle rainwater for skyrise greenery irrigation and micro-climate adjustment. In-house enterprises will experience a garden-style work environment.

An executive from developer Zhuhai Gree Group said the industrial park will be built to the standards of Tian An Cloud Park in Shenzhen and Songshan Lake Intelligent Valley in Dongguan.

Sanxi Technology & Innovation Town, an aggregate of industrial operators and large firm headquarters, will focus on high-end intelligent manufacturing, new-generation electronic information, and headquarters and digital economy.

The town encourages enterprises in sectors advanced manufacturing to move their production into high-rises, which requires the equipment to be light in weight and cause little vibration during production.

Also upcoming are Gree Intelligent Equipment & New Energy Industrial Park, Zhuhai Financial Science & Technology Center, and Hong Kong Honeymoon Dessert headquarters, which will be served by new-type industrial buildings, talent apartments, and business, education, and medical facilities.

The 13.24-sq-km (5-sq-mile) land lot of technology & innovation town spans Lixi, Fuxi, Nanxi, and Jiechong old villages, Shanxing Industrial Zone, and the former Qianshan Commerce & Trade Logistics Park. It is an essential part of Xiangzhou District's plans for renovation and upgrading of old industrial zones.
