Books and cultural-creative products are being sold at discounted prices during a three-day session of the 2019 South China Book Festival that opens at 5 this evening on Yeli Island.

Xinhua Bookstore has set up booths in Hi City fronting Zhuhai Opera House. Topics include social sciences, literature, art, children's readings, and cultural education. On display are 20,000 select publications by CITIC Press, People's Publishing House, and others.

Longquan Celadon, a green-glazed Chinese ceramic produced from 950 to 1550 in Longquan, Zhejiang Province and an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, is displayed at the booth for culture-creative products. Alongside are rosewood stationery accessories, Alegant glassware, and crystal products that once served as official gifts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and spin-offs inspired by the collections of The Palace and Xi'an museums.

A special booth showcases books with patriotism and revolutionary themes to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, 40th anniversary of Zhuhai becoming a city, and 20th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland.

Xinhua Bookstore offers a 20 percent discount on all exhibits, while arranging meet-and-greet sessions with famous writers.

Meanwhile, the nearby exhibition area of Readzone highlights an endearing Tyrannosaurus created by the pen of renowned Japanese illustrator Tatsuya Miyanishi, and includes a booth dedicated to his picture-books.

Both bookstores will hold parallel sessions at their own locations across the city during the period, as will Wenhua Bookstore and Coast Books.
