It is located east of Baoxing Road, west of East Ring (Huandao) Road, and north of Tianhe Street and will be primarily renovated from the old facility.

In addition to 500 beds, the facility will have emergency, outpatient, inpatient, and medical laboratory departments, as well as security systems, administrative management rooms, in-hospital living quarters, and outdoor auxiliary infrastructure.

Architecturally, the major part of the hospital is a half-moon-shaped podium structure surrounded by functional buildings. A riverside footpath will connect the architectural cluster, while rooftop and hanging gardens, green-plant corridor, weatherproof spaces, and central waterfall will enrich the interior landscape.

The nearby Hengqin International Life Science Center is another project led by the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. The private medical institution is funded with a social investment of more than 3.8 billion yuan ($55 million).
