The Portuguese-style commercial complex Legend Ponto Square will open in Hengqin New Area this fall as a one-stop recreational venue for shopping, catering, and entertainment. 

Located at 68 East Ring (Huandao) Road directly (200 m or 219 yd) across from Hengqin Port and near the University of Macau, the complex is financed by more than 30 Macao medium-sized and small enterprises. Construction commenced in 2014.

Legend Ponto Square

The 31,000 sq-m (8-acre) shopping complex, which features classic European-style arcades and palatial decorations, consists of one main and two annex buildings. Support facilities include 1,152 parking spots.

The second floor of the main building will earmark exhibition zones to sell tourist-cultural products and specialties from Portuguese and other Romance language-speaking countries. The third floor will house products from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The first, fourth, fifth and sixth floors are reserved for catering, retail sales, and entertainment.

European style

Of note is a 5,120.8-sq-m (1.3-acre) cinema on the fifth floor. Invested by China Film Cinema Investment Co, it will be the first cinema in Hengqin.

Also signing on at Legend Ponto Square's May 17 investment promotion conference were Darling on the Wharf Bistro, a Macao-based genuine Mediterranean cuisine restaurant; renowned hot pot chain Spicy Hero; a Michelin-starred restaurant; martial arts gymnasium; and Zhuhai wine importer.

Agents of Koo Chun Tong, Prime's Hai Tea, LUYU, Xiaomi, 7-11, Reading Mi, Huawei, Bestore, Luckin Coffee, Ajisen Ramen, and 85°C also attended the conference.

In addition to varied recreational choices, the commercial complex boasts a fine transportation network. The B1 level of its main building is connected to Hengqin Checkpoint by a tunnel expected to open by late August. The nearby Guangzhou-Zhuhai MRT Hengqin Station will bring in even more out-of-town shoppers.
