Yunzhou-Tech 5G boats admired at Spanish tech expo
Tangjiawan company Yunzhou Tech's efficient 5G-enabled unmanned boats used for water-quality testing attracted much attention Feb 25 to 28 at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2019.
The fifth generation of wireless mobile can offer data transfer speeds up to 100 times faster than the current 4G network. Yunzhou-Tech’s new unmanned surface vessels (USVs) take advantage of the faster speeds, increased capacity, and lower latent resistance. Robot arms take effluent samples under remote control while water-quality monitors are deployed throughout a body of water to provide basic data.

Not only this, the boats transfer real-time HD videos containing water information that enable virtual reality demonstrations. A Yunzhou executive said this will completely change the traditional operation of the hydrological survey, water-quality sampling and monitoring, environmental law enforcement, and other water ecological environment monitoring and supervision by effectively enhancing data accuracy, reducing costs, and improving work efficiency.
Yunzhou-Tech, based in the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan), is a domestic R&D enterprise known for world-leading civilian unmanned ships. Its latest type also has contributions from Swedish telecom company Ericsson and China Mobile, one of China's largest telecom operators.
It was hinted that more such products would be developed and deployed in various other domains.
MWC Barcelona in Spain is the largest mobile event in the world, bringing together the latest innovations and cutting-edge technology from 2,400 leading companies. The theme of this year's event is "Intelligent Connectivity" -- a term used to describe the powerful combination of flexible, high-speed 5G networks, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and big data.
