Staff ready to begin work at Doumen regional airport
Zhuhai General Aviation Airport Investment Co marked the Phase 1 completion of a new regional airport in Lianzhou Town on Jan 2. Opening soon, it will not have scheduled passenger service but will instead serve 10-seat or-above commercial aircraft.
Qualified air traffic controllers, airport communication navigators, and security staff reportedly have already been employed. Meanwhile, an airport aviation fuel protection unit is in place. Moreover, airport operation systems have been completed with a variety of application documents and a use permit. Several general aviation companies are said to have agreed to cooperate with the airport.
Once operational, the airport will provide navigation services, emergency rescue, general aviation exhibitions, low-altitude tourism, flight training, disaster monitoring, aircraft assembly, test flights, maintenance, and repair services.

The airport in Doumen District is 40.8 km (25 miles) from the city center and 50 km (31 miles) north of Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport of Jinwan District.
Lianzhou Town attracts many tourists due to its stunning local scenery, Lingnan waterfront cuisines, rich cultural heritage, folk art, agricultural tourism, and many festivals. Charter flights to the new airport will make travel quite convenient.
A general aviation park consisting of a manufacturing logistics area, water airport, and aviation community will be formed to take full advantage of the airport, according to a manager.
