Doumen stands behind Flex with its 50,000 workers

Doumen District Mayor Ma Hongsheng signed an agreement with Francois Barbier, CEO of Flextronics International Ltd, at the Zhuhai Holiday Resort Hotel on June 7 to upgrade Flex Zhuhai Industrial Park to a global flagship and exemplary park with the concept of Industry 4.0 over the next four years.

Known as the fourth industrial revolution, Industry 4.0 is designed to make production systems up to 30 percent faster and 25 percent more efficient and elevate mass customization to new levels. With financing from the Zhuhai Development & Investment Fund, the project will involve massive upgrades to production facilities and equipment, construction of state-of-the-art electronic product manufacturing, and Sketch-to-Scale complete supply-chain solutions.

High-end smartphones, module devices dedicated to the internet of things (IoT), communications equipment, cloud data network switches, smart homes, intelligent robots, and precision machinery among other high-end products will be highlighted. More than 300 R&D high-caliber staff will also be imported worldwide, supplementing the current 50,000 employees at the park.

Flex, formerly Flextronics, is a Singapore-headquartered supplier of electronic manufacturing services (EMS) that provides operational services to technology companies.

Flex Zhuhai Industrial Park is in Xinqing Science & Technology Industrial Park in Doumen District.
