Int'l circus 'surprises' just around the corner
The 100-day countdown for the 3rd China International Circus Festival, a world top-level show and competition, took place at the Hengqin Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort on Aug 10.
Intending to provide Zhuhai with spectacular entertainment, the festival to be staged in November has attracted 200 world-class performers from about 20 countries, and upgraded to a larger performance venue.
“It is bound to bring a lot of surprise,” said Li Chi, art director of the circus festival, revealing that last year’s global circus gold award winner from Italy, a large story-telling reality-based magic show from the Netherlands, and the world’s largest-scale Te-waza show will come to stage this year.
100-day countdown begins.
Additionally, the Australian motorcyclists who missed last year’s competition due to injury will show up, targeting to win gold. Visitors are also certain to be impressed by the skilled American flying trapeze team and performers on the Aerial Russian Swing.
Hengqin Island Theater, specially designed for circuses, will be the main venue while six smaller shows will be staged at Zhuhai’s squares, middle and primary schools, college campuses, and in Macao.
The festival will be divided into two parts after the opening ceremony on Nov 18. There will be two shows on each Nov 19 and 20, and then one show daily from Nov 21 to 23. The following two days are scheduled for competitions, with two matches a day.
