The National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences recently released lists of approved projects for the 2025 National Social Science Fund of China, including major projects and major special programs. As of Dec 26, five faculty members from Yunnan University were awarded major projects, marking another significant achievement for the university.
Among them, projects led by Professor Fang Shengju from the university’s Research Base on Fostering a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation and Professor Li Xiaobin from the School of Ethnology and Sociology were approved as 2025 Major Projects of the National Social Science Fund. These achievements highlight Yunnan University’s strong research capabilities and disciplinary strengths in areas such as frontier governance, ethnic interaction and integration, and civilizational exchanges in the Lancang-Mekong River region.
In addition, a project proposed by Researcher Gao Wei from the School of Law was selected for the 2025 Major Bidding Projects under the Special Program on Major Historical Issues of the Chinese Academy of History, supported by the National Social Science Fund. The project is expected to provide important historical insights and theoretical guidance for law-based governance in frontier ethnic regions and the harmonious development of ethnic relations in the new era.
Moreover, special projects led by Researcher Liu Zhengyin from the School of History and Archives and Professor Jiang Hong from the School of Government have been approved for major commissioned projects of the National Social Science Fund.
Moving forward, Yunnan University will continue to strengthen project support and management, promote the application and commercialization of research outcomes, and contribute to theoretical innovation and practical development in related fields.
