YNU succeeds in philosophy, social sciences research

In 2024, Yunnan University (YNU) demonstrated exceptional achievements in the field of philosophy and social sciences, with seven of its projects winning the prestigious Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Awards (Humanities and Social Sciences), the highest honor in the field.

The university also secured 57 projects funded by the National Social Science Fund, including two major projects commissioned by the Chinese Academy of History.

The publication record of the university's faculty reached new heights. They published 27 papers in top-tier journals such as Ethno-National Studies. Additionally, contributed 22 articles to journals affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and 58 papers to ESI General Social Sciences, SSCI, and A&HCI journals, and ranked in the top 1 percent globally in ESI in the social sciences' category.

A standout initiative is the "Overseas Chinese Enterprises and Employees Survey (OCEES)" by the Yunnan University Institute of Belt and Road Studies. This innovative and unique data platform has become a leading academic and public resource for Chinese enterprises involved in the Belt and Road.

The university also enhanced its Belt and Road-focused media databases in 2024. The news media database grew by 160,000 new entries, while the social media database expanded by 8 million entries. These databases now incorporate data from major news websites in South Asia and Africa, significantly broadening the depth and scope of information. Users can utilize two applications – the Belt and Road Public Opinion Analysis Platform and the Data Access Platform – to query, download, and customize data for tailored research and analysis.
