The launch ceremony for the Centre for China Studies of the University of Dhaka (CCS) was held at Dhaka University in Bangladesh on March 24.
The centre was established through collaboration between research institutions and universities in both countries. Participating units include the Shanghai Institute for International Studies, Tongji University, and Yunnan University in China, as well as Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and Patuakhali Science and Technology University in Bangladesh.
Yao Wen, Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh, delivered a speech at the ceremony. He hailed the establishment of CCS, stating that it is the latest achievement in cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, academic research, and cultural exchanges.
Maksud Kamal, vice-chancellor of the University of Dhaka, and Chen Dongxiao, president of the Shanghai Institute for International Studies, unveiled the centre.

During the launch ceremony, Yunnan University signed a "2024 Cooperation and Exchange Intention Agreement" with the centre. Yunnan University will collaborate with the University of Dhaka in academic research, personnel exchanges, project cooperation, and other activities with the support of the centre.
Following the launch ceremony, Hu Jinming, vice-president of Yunnan University, attended the "China-Bangladesh Development Experience and Governance" exchange seminar at the centre and chaired relevant sessions.
