Yunnan University or YNU – located in Kunming, capital of China's Southwest Yunnan province – recently opened an intelligent experimental demonstration garden for apples in Tenglong village.
The village is administered by Lincang city in Yunnan province, where the Lahu ethnic group settles.
To spur rural revitalization and accelerate the construction of "first-rate universities and disciplines", YNU and Lincang Guangqi Dianya Science and Technology Co jointly built the demonstration garden.
Some 50 mu (3 hectares) of apples were planted in the first phase, mainly red apple varieties.
The demonstration garden is equipped with extensive facilities and aims to achieve a high yield.
It is being managed in strict accordance with the national "green food" apple planting technology operating procedures.
The demonstration garden is relying on YNU's science and technology to establish a green and healthy cultivation technology system which will be a model for apple planting in other areas.
The idea is that it will promote tourism, revitalize industries and increase farmers' incomes in Tenglong village.
