A delegation from tech giant Huawei Technologies Co Ltd on June 1 visited Yunnan University, or YNU -- located in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province -- to deepen their existing partnership.
Lin Wenxun, Party secretary of YNU, commended the company for its long-term support of the university, suggesting that their key focus moving forwards should be on integrating information technology and education and teaching in promoting the development of a first-class university.
He urged the two sides to deepen their cooperation, especially in the training of information technology personnel, scientific research and informatization -- so as to promote YNU's development and to make further contributions to Yunnan province's economic and social development.
Chen Weichen, vice-president of Huawei's China business arm, said the company and YNU had shared a fruitful partnership over many years, enjoying mutually beneficial results in areas including scientific research, talent training, teacher training and employment.
Chen pointed out that in facing the challenges of the new round of the technological revolution, Huawei also needed to maintain in-depth cooperation with universities.
He said the company planned to support YNU's development as a digital and smart university and it expected to train a group of its senior talents at YNU.
