Xiamen Torch Academy wraps up a training session on occupational competence for youth

A three-day training session on strengthening the capacity building of youth at the workplace was concluded in Xiamen, a coastal city of east China's Fujian Province, on July 24.

The training program was launched by Xiamen Torch Academy under the guidance of the administrative committee of Xiamen Torch Development Zone for High Technology Industries and Xiamen Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (CYL) to help fresh college graduates quickly fulfill their expectations in the job market and strengthen the capacity building of prospective mid-level employees in their enterprises.

During the training seminar, Guan Mingchen, a specially invited lecturer from Antai College of Economic and Management at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and senior consultant at Shanghai International Banking and Finance Institute, Wan Yingjun, a specially invited lecturer from Tongji University and former senior consultant at Israeli SIT Inc, and Sha Weihua, a specially invited lecturer from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Fudan University and co-founder of TeamPower Consultants Co Ltd, spoke with trainees about such topics as career development, the transformation from a college student to an employee in the labor market, the principles of innovation and thinking logic, the cultivation of internal motivation for innovation, the importance of effective communication and the formation of sustainable development capabilities.

Cheng Yongjie, deputy director of the Department for Economic Development in the administrative committee of Xiamen Torch Development Zone for High Technology Industries and secretary of the CYL Committee of the high-tech zone, and Wang Qinglin, an official from the Department for Youth Development in the Xiamen Municipal Committee of the CYL, attended the closing ceremony and presented diplomas to 52 trainees.

Speaking in his speech, Fu Jing, executive vice-president of Xiamen Torch Academy, said that the special training program has draw the attendance of over 230 outstanding young people from more than 70 enterprises in three batches since it was inaugurated in last September.

Fu called on trainees to further enhance their occupational competence, better adapt to the new workplace, acquire frontier knowledge in the fields of science and technology, industrial development, management and capital, and become a contributor in the development of Xiamen Torch Academy.

Zhang Weiwei, general manager of Xiamen 35.com Technology Co Ltd, Cai Hong, senior vice-president of Norwegian recycling firm Tomra and head of its Chinese branch, and Zhu Jin, founder of Xiamen Ulab Network Technology Co Ltd, talked with participants about their career development and personal understanding of occupational competence in terms of literacy, cognition, value, growth and passion.

In addition, they also held exchanges with trainees and responded to their questions.
